We are a downtown church "Serving Christ from the Heart of Tuscaloosa." Blessed to glorify God in this setting, there are many opportunities to serve God among our neighbors in need. Where is your heart calling you to help serve?

Our Mission includes providing funding to agencies, supporting home-bound members, and communicating volunteer opportunities inside and outside of the congregation.

  • arts 'n autism

    Arts 'n Autism is an early intervention after school, summer camp, and respite program for children with Autism. Children from preschool to young adults in the Tuscaloosa area and surrounding counties are invited to participate. For more info, call (205) 247-4990. 

  • caring days

    Caring Days provides services to enhance the quality of life for individuals with memory disorders, their caregivers, and related populations in the West Alabama area.  Clients attending the program participate in specially designed activities to encourage the continued use of social, language, motor, and cognitive skills.  Caring Days also hosts the Alzheimer's Family Support Group and honors memory disorder patients and caregivers with a Walk to Remember annual event.   • the community soup bowl

    The Community Soup Bowl seeks to provide a warm, inviting atmosphere by opening its doors to welcome and feed the hungry seven days a week. Volunteer teams serve meals from 11:00 a.m.-12:50 p.m. Volunteers are also needed to prepare and serve on weekends and holidays! Volunteers are also needed for yard work and building maintenance.   • compassion coalition

    Through the Compassion Coalition of Tuscaloosa County, faith-based organizations have joined together to work with Tuscaloosa County Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (VOAD) and the Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) to meet needs county-wide immediately after disasters. The coalition provides volunteers from churches and other faith-based organizations that have teams and resources available.

  • COUNSELING MINISTRY PROFESSIONALS

    Counseling Ministry Professionals offers counseling and psychiatric care for the mental, emotional, relational, and spiritual needs of individuals and families in our community.  They treat people of all faith traditions, working within their spiritual framework to offer healing and hope.   • eagles' wings

    Eagles’ Wings provides day habilitation services for adults with developmental disabilities and offers a wide array of services individualized to meet each person's spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and vocational needs. The agency is committed to promoting and protecting individual rights of people and its primary objective is centered on happiness for each individual in a respectful, secure, nurturing, and structured environment which maximizes potential for independence, productivity, and integration with the surrounding community.   • Feed my sheep

    Feed My Sheep feeds the hungry of Tuscaloosa by providing transportation to other agencies that provide meals. Volunteers are needed to drive the van daily; each trip takes approximately 1.5 hours. Volunteers also gather food from contributing entities and deliver it to distribution sites several times a week. For more info, call (205) 292-3209.

  • five horizons health services

    Five Horizons Health Services, formerly West Alabama AIDS Outreach, strives to promote a healthy, aware, and compassionate community through education, support, service, and advocacy, for people with or affected by HIV/AIDS. Volunteers may participate in FHHS’s prevention education activities through the main office. For more info, call (205) 759-8470.

  • good samaritan clinic

    The Good Samaritan Clinic is an interdenominational Christian ministry that provides free primary health and dental care, medication, health information, and spiritual support to people of every race, creed and gender who are indigent and do not have health insurance.  It serves patients who reside in Tuscaloosa, Greene, Hale, Bibb, Pickens, Sumter, and Fayette counties.  The Clinic utilizes volunteers in medical, dental, and administrative positions.  For some positions, no previous experience is necessary.   • habitat for humanity of tuscaloosa

    Habitat for Humanity provides affordable home ownership opportunities to Tuscaloosa County residents who cannot afford to rent or otherwise purchase adequate housing.  Volunteers aged 16 and above are needed who can hammer, saw, paint, roof, make cabinets, or who are willing to learn. Non-construction volunteers have opportunities to make phone calls, fix snacks and lunches, dig a hole, carry a board, give funds, laugh and rejoice. Volunteers are needed to help with the ReStore, both picking up donations and working in the store itself. We welcome volunteers and supporters from all backgrounds.   • hospice of west alabama

    Hospice of West Alabama is a home health care agency which provides support and care for persons in the last phases of incurable disease so they may live as fully and comfortably as possible. Volunteers are the heart of HOWA, providing a special kind of caring and compassion for our patients and their families. Volunteers are needed to work at our desks and to sit with patients for short periods while caregivers run errands for patients and families.   • literacy council of west alabama

    Literacy Council of West Alabama is a non-profit organization founded to reduce illiteracy in Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Perry, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa counties. Through the support of local literacy service providers and community partners, the LCWA aims to improve lives and communities through literacy in West Alabama. For more info, call (205)-391-2612.

  • meals on wheels

    The Meals on Wheels program mission is to supplement nutritional needs of elderly and disabled individuals by providing one certain meal per day.  Volunteers are essential to the success of the program as they deliver hot noon meals, costing $4.50 each, daily.   • phoenix house

    Phoenix House provides substance abuse treatment and prevention services to individuals unable to obtain treatment through private means. The Phoenix House provides a temporary home that gives structure in early stages of recovery and allows time for residents to build skills for successful transition back into the community.   • presbyterian home for children

    The Presbyterian Home for Children (PHFC) provides care and education for children at a particularly traumatic time in their lives. Individuals and churches assist in this ministry through cash and other donations, as well as in activities designed to enrich the children’s lives.  For more info, call (256) 362-2114.

  • peoples' loan program

    Peoples’ Loan Program is a nonprofit organization whose mission is conduct a ministry of compassion to serve low-income residents of West Alabama by extending zero-interest, zero-fee loans in the neediest of cases. It is funded solely on donations from area churches, civic groups, and individuals.

  • salvation army

    The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian church.  Its mission is based on the Bible.  Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Volunteers are needed to work at the Thrift Store or in the kitchen of the Center of Hope Shelter. For more info, call (205) 632-3691.

  • temporary emergency services

    Temporary Emergency Services is dedicated to helping individuals and families in crisis situations.  TES provides assistance to persons who have lost all of their possessions in a fire, who need life-supporting medications, medical needs, heating needs or other emergencies.  Volunteers are needed to assist the small staff at the Thrift Store. Individuals and groups also can help with the Annual Fundraiser, client services, and food bag packaging. For more info, call (205) 758-5535.

  • turning point

    Turning Point of West Alabama provides comprehensive quality services to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  The purpose of this agency is to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in exploring available alternatives and to empower them to make healthy decisions regarding their future. Volunteers are needed to assist with answering the crisis line, working in the office or shelter, sorting donations, providing transportation to victims to appointments, and selling daisies during the Mother’s Day Sale.   • Tuscaloosa SAFE Center

    The Tuscaloosa SAFE Center is a 24/7 sexual assault crisis center focusing on providing the best care possible to survivors of sexual assault. Resources provided include forensic examination, follow up care, medical advocacy, education/outreach, counseling, and support group services. For more info, call 205-860-7233.

  • tuscaloosa's one place

    The mission of Tuscaloosa's One Place is to provide support services to families that develop skills and resources to reduce child abuse and neglect, improve the quality of life, prepare children for success in a competitive society, and allow persons to realize potential for self-sufficiency. Volunteers are needed to help with after-school programs, mentoring, clerical support, festivals, holiday drives, and community school supply drive. For more info, call (205) 462-1000.

  • west alabama food bank

    The mission of West Alabama Food Bank is to alleviate hunger and food insecurity in nine counties in West Alabama, Bibb, Fayette, Green, Hale, Lamar, Pickens, Sumter, and Tuscaloosa Counties. Traditionally a group from First Presbyterian Church helps prepare Brown bags for a month. Delivery volunteers are also needed.  For more info, call (205) 333-5353.
