Bible 101 Class meets in Room 203. The class just concluded a several year study through the entire bible. It is now assessing a new direction, possibly in-depth analysis of certain books of the Bible, a few weeks studying the Reformation and the development of our Presbyterian faith, and other topics. Current Issues Class meets in-person in Room 206 and by Zoom each Sunday at 9:45AM. The Current Issues class will draw on two resources for its fall study topics: The Wired Word and TheoEd talks. The Wired Word offers two topics each week – each topic relating a current event to scripture to encourage discussion and reflection.  The class teacher chooses one of those topics. TheoEd offers a “Ted-talk” style video introducing a scriptural or theological theme led by a leading theologian or person of faith in our time and provides scripture and questions for class discussion around each theme. Fellowship Class meets each Sunday in a hybrid format. You may come to the McGiffert Prayer Chapel at 9:45AM for conversation time.  The lesson will begin at 10:00 and ends around 10:40. The entire class will also be on Zoom beginning at 9:45 for those who prefer to participate from home. Everyone is welcome to join early or late and to leave early or late! We are very flexible!! Journey Class meets some Sundays by Zoom and others in person in the Brandon Parlor. This class begins a Seven Week study of the Seven Love Languages this fall then will move into a several week study on the Grief Process. For more info, contact Mark Byars or Blake Beavers.

 

McCain Class meets in Room 208. This class continues to work though former pastor Dr. McCain’s sermon studies. This class is co-ed and ranges in age from mid-40’s and up. For more information, contact Becky Compton.


Pacesetters Class meets by Zoom each Sunday at 9:00AM. This class reads and discusses an eclectic list of books each year. It is not a bible study class. The next book will be Cosmos, Chaos, and the World to Come, 2nd Edition, by Norman Cohn (2001). Other recent titles include Christian Art: a Very Short Introduction, Doing Theology with the Reformers, St Paul Versus St Peter, Christianity at the Crossroads: How the Second Century Shaped the Future of the Church, and The Old Testament between Theology and History. Young Adult Sunday School meets in Room 211. With God and God’s Word at the center, we discuss the power of prayer, develop faith-centered relationships, parent from a place of faith, make life decisions, deal with life events, and build strong marriages.
