FPC WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDY

We are all Presbyterian women defined by the fact that we are women and attend First Presbyterian Church. It’s not a group that you join. The Presbyterian women (PW) have a long tradition of organized bible study in small groups known as Circles. Our Circles are not closed to FPC women, in fact they are open and inviting. We have some great women that attend other area churches that participate in many of our Circles. Our small groups provide fellowship and friendship; and we have a short study of the written word. Our Circles are there to provide comfort when needed and support at all times.

Our small groups meet September through May and take the summer off.  This is not a huge commitment, ladies - it’s one gathering a month!

For the ’23-24 year, we are studying Sacred Encounters: The Power and Presence of Jesus Christ in Luke-Acts by Olive Mahabir. Within the pages of this study, you are invited to consider Jesus and Jesus’ disciples who shared the Good News through sacred encounters with everyday people.

Presbyterian women, if you are not participating in our small groups or if you have let your participation wane, then we invite you to come join us. We are organizing for the fall and have six interesting small groups for you. If you are participating in a Circle and have a great friend who would benefit from a group, bring her along.

For the fall the plans are:

  • Circle 1: Meets 2nd Tuesday @ 10:00 a.m. in Members homes. Bible Leader Janet Crowder, Circle Leader Leanne Spencer. Our next gathering is Tuesday, December 12th in the home of Ashley Hull.

The Young Women’s Bible Study meets once a month in members’ homes with a light meal. Bible Leader is Janet Crowder and Study Organizers are Jana Henry (jana@rightspacecre.com) and Blair Hoyt (blairhoyt@gmail.com). They communicate on the Group Me app. Get connected! FPC Young Women’s Bible Study kick off will be hosted by Ann Hickman for a joint gathering of our night and day groups on at table to be determined.

Our small groups, or “Circles,” are open circles, welcoming and inclusive.

We hope you will join the Women of First Presbyterian as we embark on this journey. Bring a friend!

THIS YEAR'S BOOK

Sacred Encounters:

The Power and Presence of Jesus Christ in Luke-Acts

By Olive Mahabir

This year’s study is Sacred Encounters: The Power and Presence of Jesus Christ in Luke-Acts by Olive Mahabir. Within the pages of this study, Olive Mahabir invites you to consider Jesus and Jesus’ disciples who shared the Good News through sacred encounters with everyday people. The Gospel According to Luke and the book of the Acts of the Apostles, or Luke-Acts, “one story in two parts,” demonstrate the unfolding of God’s redemptive purposes in human history and present a distinctive perspective on the person and work of Jesus Christ. Written by Luke, a physician and traveling companion of Paul, the message to the early Christian community (and to us) is radical, inclusive, and hope-filled.

The cost of the study guide is $10.00 plus shipping.  A large print version is available for $15.00 plus shipping.  A study guide is not required to attend this bible study. Advance prep is not required to attend this bible study.
