ALL SAINTS' AFTERNOON SERVICE

Sunday, November 6th at 4 p.m.

Join us for our special Service of Remembrance and Celebration honoring the Saints and comforting the bereaved on Sunday, November 6th at 4 p.m. Share the names of loved ones you have lost (or anyone mourning a loss) to be prayed for by name during the service. Our Sanctuary Choir will offer appropriate anthems, solos, and ensembles, alternated with scripture and hymns meant to accompany God’s healing grace. We end in a Celebration of Life, as Gaines Brake’s quartet, The Red Mountain Jazz Collective, leads the congregation in a “second line” (New Orleans style!) into Warner Hall for a festive reception. Ask anyone who has attended before – you do not want to miss this one-of-a-kind service.

This is my favorite service of the year.  We need this.

If you have never attended our All Saints’ Afternoon Service, this is the year to come!

In collaboration with our friends at Grace Presbyterian Church, we are offering our annual Service of Remembrance and Celebration – Honoring the Saints and Comforting the Bereaved, on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 4:00 PM.

Our Combined Choirs, conducted by Ms. Marjorie Johnston and Dr. Leslie Poss, will offer sacred music that has been chosen to match scriptural readings, with members of both congregations serving as lectors.  Rev. Michael Bailey welcomes Grace’s pastor, Rev. Cathy Caldwell Hoop in this service petitioning for God’s healing grace.

All in attendance are invited to write the names of those we mourn on a Remembrance Card, and to bring it forward during the service (optional).

This was a good reminder that God’s presence is with us most strongly in our darkest hour.

- Tina DeLoach, visitor

We end in a Celebration of Life, as Gaines Brake’s quartet, The Red Mountain Jazz Collective, leads the congregation in a “Second Line” (New Orleans style!) into Warner Hall for a festive reception.

When that Dixieland Band and Second Line came into Warner Hall,  I just started crying…but happy tears!

- Kit Moss, First Presbyterian Church

Please mark your calendars now!

Marjorie Johnston, Director of Music
