Elementary Sunday School

Elementary Sunday School
Sunday School for children in kindergarten through 5th grade is from 9:45-10:45 in room 209. (During the summer if there is only one worship service, Sunday School is from 9-9:45.) We use the Workshop Rotation Model for our Sunday School program. Following is a typical Sunday morning schedule:
  • 9:45-10 Arrival—Students check-in, get their name tags and choose an activity (games, puzzles, coloring, Bible action figures, reading, etc.)
  • 10-10:15 Gathering—All elementary students gather for worship (singing, memory verse and lamp lighting, mission story, offering, prayer, and Bible story).
  • 10:15-10:45 Workshop—Students are divided by grades into 4 different workshops. Examples of workshops include Acting in Antioch, Computing in Corinth, Game Show in Galilee, and Variety in Galatia (games, films, cooking, art). One Bible story is introduced each month and is reinforced by the four workshops. Each grade goes to a different workshop each week.
Our Workshops are based on the theory of Multiple Intelligences (Howard Gardner). Children learn in a variety of ways and our goal is to offer opportunities to provide the same content in a variety of teaching and learning styles.

The Sunday School offering is based on Matthew 25:46. Children are encouraged to bring canned goods for the hungry, money for Living Waters for the World for the thirsty, welcome notes for strangers, clothing for the naked, get well cards for the sick, and toiletry items for those in prison.
